This Mama & Papa had a night away from the girls for the FIRST time last night! Nanny & Grandad were in charge (maybe not so much at bedtime, isn’t that right Grandad?) and we had some long overdue, quality time together.
For David’s Birthday present I booked us a night at The Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells. My heart strings were pulled at before we left home. Flo threatened to have a full blown, bitch fit whenever Nanny looked at her and Bella clung to me like a koala. My stomach was in knots at the thought of leaving Flo for the first time, but after a couple of a prosecco’s I began to relax.
I lied. I didn’t even leave it an hour before checking up on the girls! Us Mums can never fully relax! We had a lovely chilled evening, catching up with friends. We had a quick dip & sauna before getting ready for dinner and then headed to Coco Retro, the new, trendy French restaurant that everyone seems to be raving about!
It’s quite a small restaurant so it has a busy, buzzing atmosphere and the service was fantastic! We both enjoyed our lamb shank and I really loved my Chocolate Tart, which I begrudgingly shared (kind of).
We then walked down to The Ivy and had an old time favourite of ours, a Long Island Iced Tea. By 11pm I was boozed out, stuffed and fantasising about the bed in the hotel room and the hours & hours of heavenly, uninterrupted….sleep I was going to have (sorry Dave).
I slept all night! No dummy hunts, no bottles to make, no midnight tantrums, just 9 hours of solid sleep! Dreams can come true! The girls were well behaved and also slept really well (why do they always do that when Mummy is off duty?!) and thankfully haven’t put Nanny & Grandad off babysitting again! So when can I sign up for our next night off?!
