I live for lazy days at home. Life is always so hectic and with the girls extremely busy social lives, we don’t really have a lot of time to do arts and crafts and sensory play, so when we have a day at home, I always try and set up some sort of sensory activity for the girls. I saw this really simply sensory play idea on Pinterest and I wanted to share it with you all.
Simply fill up a clean tuppeware tub with cold water, add some food colouring, chop up some cucumber and fruit and throw it in. Viola, you have a fun and easy, edible sensory play that will not only keep your little ones thoroughly entertained, it’s also suitable for ages. The girls have been playing with the water for over an hour now and they are having so much fun together.
The girls really enjoyed munching the cucumber and strawberries. If you struggle to get your little ones to eat fruit, this really is a fun and creative way to encourage them to try new foods. You could even cut the cucumber and fruit into different shapes, using a small shaped cutter (note to self).
When they had finished playing, they were both thoroughly soaked and my kitchen floor looked like a swimming pool, but they really did enjoy themselves. Next time, I’m going to add different textured objects into the water so they can explore how different the objects feel when they get wet. My next crafty mission is to make edible paint for the girls to play with.
