Today we ventured out as a four and we decided to take a drive to St Ives. Retallack Resort & Spa is in such a fantastic location that it’s so easy to explore the surrounding towns & beaches. It only took an hour to get down to the seafront and the scenery is really pretty.
We had a quick lunch one of the beachfront cafe/restaurant. To be honest, our local Fish & Chip Shop serves better fish & chips (the food here was a bit dry), but it filled a hole in our bellies and set us up for the afternoon. After lunch, we walked through the quaint town and made our way to the beach.
The beach was lovely! It was so clean, the water was crystal clear and turquoise, you feel like you’re abroad. Bella wasted no time and headed straight for the sea. Flo dipped her toes into the ocean for the first time and had a blast splashing.
Daddy & Bella made a castle & Bella named it Castle Mummy (I’m honoured). Flo was inspecting the building process and thought she’d keep them both on their toes by trying to continuously steal the bucket and gross us all out by eating the sand.
We were on the beach for just over an hour until the tide came whooshing in! The girl’s were soaked and covered head to toe in sand (Thank God I packed spare clothes), so after Operation Clean Up, we treated ourself to an ice cream on the sea front. Watch out for Cornish Seagulls, they’re vicious little buggers.
If you’re planning a holiday to Cornwall, I’d definitely recommend that you check out St Ives, the beach is beautiful and the town is very quaint and interesting. I brought Bella & Elsie a friendship bracelet each. Thought it would make a cute keepsake, although it will probably only last 5 minutes.
