Both of my girls have a sweet tooth (maybe I should blame my muffin obsession whilst pregnant), so I’m always trying to think of new and healthy treats for them. Thankfully they are both fruit lovers, but sometimes a girl needs a little bit more. I gave this lovely Blueberry Muffin recipe from the Real Food Kids Love Cook Book by Annabel Karmel a try and they were so yummy.
We all know how suspicious Toddlers can be when it comes to trying new foods (even sweet), so I used Dinosaur themed cake cases and Dinosaur cake toppers to lure them both into trying the Blueberry Muffins. Flo doesn’t need much encouragement when it comes to food and she practically bit my hand off.
Look at that face! After Bella reluctantly took a bite (I captured her first bite) she told me she loved it, but then proceeded to pick the Blueberries out, kind of defeats the object, but each to their own. Flo happily stuffed her face for a little while, but unfortunately for me she thought it would be a super fun idea, to start lobbing the muffin across the kitchen.
I mumbled something that most parents mumble, “I don’t know why I bother sometimes” and a silent FML and cleaned up the mess they both made for what felt like the hundredth time that day. Even though it’s mostly hit and miss with food, I won’t give up trying. My little Brother lived on Sandwiches when he was a Toddler and was a nightmare with food and now he’s a top, professional Chef. Hang in there Mama’s you’ll make a foodie of your little one yet.
Here’s the recipe if you want to have a go. Excuse the weird shadow! Happy baking!
