Tis the season to have lots of festive, family fun, Christmas is in the air at Drusillas Park and it makes the perfect, Christmassy day out! The girls had the time of their lives today, they were beaming from ear to ear and once again we had a fantastic day out at Drusilla’s Park, that was jam-packed full of fun! We kick started the morning with a visit to the brand new attraction, Spark, which was absolutely brilliant!
Spark is the ultimate sensory and interactive experience and it’s perfect for kids (and big kids) of all ages. This indoor attraction includes nine interactive games, the 360 degree projection transforms the room into a magical world, with explosions of colour and jungle animals. The girls loved colouring in the animals on the wall with the giant crayons, Bella had a wild, virtual ride on an Ostrid and the girls had fun hopping over Crocodiles as they swam on the floor, they also really enjoyed the interactive slide into the ball pit. Spark is situated by the Otter enclosure and it costs £1 for members and £2 for non members for an hour session.
There are lots of festive touches dotted around including a beautiful, 24ft Christmas Tree, giant reindeers and sleigh, lots of twinkling lights and more. Father Christmas’s Christmas Cottage was very authentic, two friendly Elves and Mrs Claus greet you as you wait to meet the big man himself. Father Christmas really looks the part and he was absolutely fantastic with the girls, he took his time to talk to them and even told them a story, did you know that Father Christmas wears sunglasses whilst he rides his sleigh? True story!
The girls faces were an absolute picture when they were told that they are on the nice list! I was told that I’m also on the nice list-get in! The gifts from Father Christmas are also decent, they were given a large Husky teddy, which the girls adore. There are lots of great photo opportunities including a family Snowman cut out board, giant present and more. We hopped on the Safari Express Train and got up close and personal with a massive camel, which the girls found hilarious.
We grabbed some Mulled Wine and Mince pies from the Doughnut Factory, both were delicious and we headed to The Flying Cheetahs and The Hippopotobus for a wild ride. Bella was over the moon when she learnt that she was big enough to ride on Hello Kitty Cars by herself, we got a little dizzy on the Hello Kitty Tea Cups and the girls had a blast on Hello Kitty Hopper. The girls jumped on the Rainforest Carousel and then we headed to The Husky Cave, the girls loved meeting and stroking the two beautiful Husky’s.
We went to the Oasis Cafe to grab a bite to eat for lunch, the food is fresh and reasonably priced, you can get a hot meal for £6.50, the portions are big so two children can easily share a portion of Chicken Nuggets and Chips. After lunch the girls dashed to Go Bananas, an amazing adventure playground designed for children under 5’s, although older children can enjoy too. There is so much to see and do including slides, swings, trampoline, rocking Zebras, rocking Lion, swinging hammocks, climbing nets and interactive stations, Go Wild! is a separate adventure playground designed for children aged 12 and over.
It was absolutely freezing today so we decided to check out Amazon Adventure, a brilliant Soft Play adventure, so that we could warm up. The girls played for over 30 minutes whilst we enjoyed a hot chocolate. There is also a Mini Amazon Adventure for babies and toddlers to enjoy. We decided to brave the cold again and pay a visit to the animals at the Zoo, first stop was Lory Landing, the girls thought it was hilarious when Daddy was ambushed by a pack of friendly Rainbow Lorikeets.
Bella was so excited to check out the Bat and Sloth Cave for the first time, she was absolutely fascinated! We saw the cheeky Lar Gibbons, Flamingo’s, Otters and Owls and we headed to Jurassic Jungle, a super fun, prehistoric walk through, full of moving and roaring dinosaurs. There are also a few, fantastic photo opportunities which the girls jumped at the chance.
