It definitely felt a lot like Christmas this afternoon at Gymboree Play and Music in Tunbridge Wells, as Lucy and her team hosted yet another amazing Christmas party for both members and non members. The atmosphere was buzzing and there were lots of happy faces and cute Christmas outfits to match! This winter wonderland themed party most certainly got everyone in a festive mood.
The thing I love most about events run by Lucy at Gymboree Play and Music is how well organised and fast-paced they are. Lucy and her team always pull out all of the stops to make sure everyone has the best time and the adults even have a glass of fizz to look forward to, once the party draws to an end #parentwin. The party was kick started with an old time favourite, the Hokey Cokey and everyone was up on their feet dancing.
Next the children were taken on a magic ride on the air log and there were big smiles and giggles as everyone tried their best not to fall off. Lucy then tipped a bag of “snowballs” down the slide and the children excitedly gathered up the balls, rolling and throwing them to their parents, before throwing them onto the mini parachute. Everyone had lots of fun playing stop & go to the music, whilst shaking the balls up high.
The games at Gymboree Play and Music always encourage children to use their imaginations and they help to develop those all important fine motoring skills and of course sensory play. Pass the Parcel was next and Bella was delighted when she got to unwrap the first prize. She wasn’t delighted when Florence tried to help. I was really impressed with the prizes this year, Bella unwrapped a pack of 8 animal shaped crayons and they were a decent size.
The children then had fun playing with “giant snowballs” and they were totally engrossed as Lucy was encouraging them to guess what was inside her magic bag. She threw different coloured sensory scarves in the air and then the children had to grab a scarf and make a reindeer tail and play reindeer chase. The little ones enjoyed a game of peekaboo using the scarves.
Next up was a game of sleeping reindeers, followed by a game of Musical Statues with pom poms. Every family then found a hiding place for a fun game of Hide and Seek before winding down with bubbles on the parachute. There is so much fun, jam-packed into the two hour party, that there was never a dull moment.
After the bubble popping had stopped, Lucy told the children that there was a special guest waiting to meet them all. The children and adults had to call out Santa’s name before he magically appeared. The children’s face lit up and Santa was well and truly mobbed. I like how relaxed the whole Santa experience was and families could meet Santa and take a picture, in their own time.
The girls wasted no time in meeting Santa and they couldn’t wait to open their presents either! The presents were really lovely, Flo got a Living Nature Scotty Dog Teddy and Bella got a Princess Shrinkles kit. There was a yummy buffet for families to help themselves to and I was really impressed at the selection of food, there was definitely more choice for the adults this year.
Judging by the empty plates at the end of the party, the food went down a treat. I think it’s also a nice added touch that the adults get offered a glass of Prosecco. Once again Gymboree Play & Music has thrown an amazing party, the girls were thoroughly entertained and they had the best time.
