We had our first Christmassy outing of the year today and it was made special thanks to all the effort Drusillas Park has made to make the park feel extra Christmassy. From the magical The Huskey Ice Cave to a Giant Christmas Tree, to Santa’s Christmas Grotto and the Snow Queen in her giant sleigh, you really are spoilt for choice. The Christmas family fun is endless and children of all ages will be wowed and thoroughly entertained.
Nana & Grandad joined us in the festive fun and we started our day out at Drusillas with a visit to Santa’s Christmas Grotto. Situated in the main arena, Father Christmas’s cosy Christmas cottage and the whole arena looked amazing. There was a super friendly Elf called Georgina who made lots of effort to engage with the children, asking what their names were and what they wanted for Christmas. Mrs Claus was on hand to help and she was also great with the children waiting in line.
Whilst we waited to see Father Christmas we took advantage of all of the great Christmassy photo opportunities. The girls were in awe at all of the Christmas touches and Bella couldn’t wait to join the Snow Queen on her giant sleigh. Flo on the other hand was having none of it and she only climbed abroad the sleigh when the Snow Queen went on her tea break.
Each child is given a carrot to give to Father Christmas for his Reindeer which I thought was a nice added touch. Flo was convinced the carrot was for her and I had to wrestle the carrot out of her mouth many times, but thankfully the queue for Santa’s Christmas Grotto went down quickly and we were inside in no time. The grotto itself is nicely done, it’s very cosy and magical and Father Christmas is sat waiting for the children’s arrival.
Father Christmas was amazing! He really does look the part and his warm, friendly manner instantly makes children feel at ease. I must admit I was a tad nervous to see how Flo was going to react, she’s not a massive fan of mascots or characters and she normally freaks out. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised and Flo completely took it in her stride and she even told Father Christmas that she wants Peppa Pig for Christmas.
I was very impressed with the great quality gift the girls received. Every child got a beautiful, super soft, large penguin cuddly toy. I liked the fact that every child gets the same gift, it saves any squabbles between siblings. We then headed to the magical and beautifully themed Husky Ice Cave to meet a real life Husky. The girls were in their element and they loved stroking and interacting with the Husky.
We then decided to head to Hello Kitty Secret Garden to have some fun on the rides. From the Hello Kitty Hopper Ride to Hello Kitty Car Ride and Hello Kitty Tea Cup Ride, there are lots of family fun rides, that are great for all ages. The girls love the Hello Kitty Car Ride and both thought it was brilliant when Grandad spun the Tea Cup extra fast.
The girls were in the mood for some faster paced rides so we raced over to Go Safari. Flo absolutely loves The Flying Cheetahs and Bella’s favourite is The Hippopotobus, it really does make your tummy flip. The girls were desperate to ride on the Rainforest Carousel, so we had a lovely ride on that before heading to Amazon Adventure Indoor play to have lunch and warm up.
We couldn’t go home without having a ride on the Safari Express. Flo loves riding on this train and waving at everyone. We hopped off the train and had a walk around the zoo before heading home.
As always we have had the best family day out at Drusillas Park. It’s one of our favourite days out and the novelty never wears off. The girls always have so much fun, there’s never a dull moment. It definitely looks a lot like a Christmas at Drusillas Park, so if you’re looking for an outing to kick start your Christmas spirit, you really must visit.
