Ella’s Kitchen: The First Foods Book

As promised, I said I’d blog about my new baby cookbook, Ella’s Kitchen: The First Foods Book. I’m so excited to start weaning Flo. I learnt the first time around that babies don’t tend to really eat or appreciate food until they are well over a year. So this time, I’m just going to enjoy the ride.

This book is brilliant for first time Mums. It’s full of handy tips, advice and packed with easy to follow recipes. It takes you through all stages of weaning and gives you recipes right up to when your baby is 12 months old. There’s even a section dedicated to finger foods.

It comes with two pull out charts including a weaning day to day planner & My Weaning Wall Chart, which makes a great keepsake.

The bright, funky design drew my attention to this book and I really fancied trying new ideas. For the first two weeks, there is a particular focus on giving green & more potent vegetables (I went straight for the carrot & sweet potato with Bella because I was so dead set on her eating), which apparently helps to develop their taste buds better.

I religiously used Annabel Karmel’s Quick & Easy Weaning book when I first weaned Bella and then went on to use her Quick & Easy Toddler Recipes. I can’t recommend these two books enough. They were both so helpful when I felt stuck in a rut & struggled for ideas.

All three books would be extremely helpful when you’re thinking of weaning. We are going to wait until Flo is 5 months before we start. Only 2 weeks to go!
