Jet Lag has officially struck. I must admit I’ve never experienced Jet Lag before, let alone experience it with two small children. It takes the wind out of your sail, the jam out of your doughnut, you get the idea. I started writing this blog at 12am this morning, the girls were competing to see who could wake Mummy up the most, Bella won.

The girls were as good as gold on the night flight. Flo slept for four hours straight and she was relevantly chilled, Bella tried her hardest to fall asleep, but she struggled to get comfy and she got a bit fed up. She did eventually fall asleep but woke after an hour and all hell broke loose. She went absolutely mental, she was hitting herself, hitting my Hubby, screaming, crying, there was snot everywhere, it really wasn’t a pretty sight.

Thankfully I managed to calm her down and she slept for the rest of the flight. We got home around 9:15am and the house was absolutely freezing. Obviously the heating has been off for two weeks and our new house is a period house and quite big, so if the heating is switched off for a long time, it can literally take a whole day to really warm up. The girls and I hopped straight into my bed to warm up and we all napped for three hours.

I managed to keep the girls going until around 6pm and Flo literally fell straight asleep as soon as her head touched the pillow. Bella aka as the bedtime staller Queen, didn’t fall asleep until 7:30pm. Me and my Hubby were feeling quite smug about the relevantly easy put down, oh I was in for a shock. I ended up drifting into a lovely, deep sleep around 8:30pm, when Bam, Night Ninja Bella was right in my face.

Her loud voice boomed “morning Mummy”, my Hubby was clearly half asleep and he muttered “hello Bella” as I quickly ushered her back to her room, the waterworks started and she wailed “but Daddy just said hello to me, so it must be morning” I replied “no Bella it’s 9pm, it’s still bedtime, go back to sleep”, she argued “but I don’t want to sleep”, I argued back “ok then why don’t you play with your abundance of Disney teddies that Daddy spent an arm and a leg on” she replied “but Daddy still has his arms and legs”, touché Bella, touché.

This conversation went on for a while. Bella isn’t the most reasonable person and she will fight her case and argue back until the cows come home. I was off my face tired so I left her to it. It’s now 9:15pm and I’m drifting off again in a deep sleep and I hear Bella shout “Mummy” really loudly from her bed, my patience was beginning to dwindle along with my sanity. She still can’t sleep and thinks it’s completely reasonable to wake up the whole household.

I warn her that I’m a Mummy on the edge and that things could get very ugly if she did not let me go back to sleep. She thought very long about that scary thought and finally settled down. My peace and quiet lasted until 9:45pm, when Ninja Bella crept right up close to my face and whispered loudly “Mummy I need a wee”, I tried my best not to let out a very loud “aaargh” as I climbed out of bed for the third time to escort her to the toilet.

She skips back to her room, wide awake to play with her toys. I drift off back to sleep, when at 10pm, a stealthy Flo has crept up to my bedside, I muttered a few FML under my breath and escorted her quickly back to bed. Along comes 10:15pm and Bella needs another wee, which was a cover up whilst she told me what was on her Christmas list.

Flo came back into my room at 10:30pm asking for Calpol, I was tempted to give myself a couple of shots. The torture continued until 1am when Bella eventually fell asleep and Flo passed out in our bed, using me as a human pillow and my Hubby’s face as a foot rest. I had to use my Mum stealth skills and engage my forgotten stomach muscles, to get out of bed, whilst trying desperately to not wake Flo. I ended up climbing into Flo’s bed where Bella graciously woke me up at 8am.

I kept Bella up until 8:30pm tonight and she fell asleep by 9pm. Flo on the other hand fell asleep on the sofa around 6pm and she is now wide awake and full of beans. If anyone has any spare sanity can you please send some my way?
