Happy New Year everyone. I’ve been super lazy with my blog recently. I think I’m K-O from all the excitement of Christmas and the whole shebang that surrounds it. Is it just me or did the whole of December whizz by?!
Anyway I thought I’d share with you that Bella has now been nappy free for 2 weeks! She literally potty trained herself. A couple of days before Christmas, every time she weed in her nappy, she would whip it off and ever since that moment she’s been doing her business on the potty or the loo (apart from the occasional accident-a big sorry to my friend Sarah’s sofa…thankfully it’s leather).
I must admit I was beginning to get a little worried about Bella’s lack of enthusiasm to ditch the nappies. I know you shouldn’t but sometimes you can’t help comparing and Bella was the last in her group of friends to Potty Train. Trust me when your friends and family tell you that your child will Potty Train when they are ready, listen to them, they are right!
It’s like a switch has been flipped and all of a sudden she finally gets it. No reward charts, no bribery and no incentives, when your child is ready, they are ready, it’s as simple as that. I’m so proud of her and she is doing really well, I can’t wait until we are a little further along and I’m not constantly on edge when we are out.
Even when she is wearing a nappy at night she calls out to wee on the potty before she goes to sleep and she comes in at 6am (lucky me) most mornings to tell me she needs to do a wee. She’s hinted that she wants to ditch the nappy at night. I think I’ll give it a couple more weeks and then we will give it a go.
If you’re in the middle of Potty Training or thinking of starting, good luck and don’t lose hope, your child will most definitely get it in the end. If you’re not entirely convinced that your child is ready, it’s worth waiting a bit and let them lead the way, because you’ll achieve the end goal a lot quicker. Well done Bella Boo!
