Let’s do a bit of real talk. This blog is dedicated to all you sleep deprived, time deprived, sanity deprived (you get my drift) parents out there and to remind you that it’s ok not to feel ok. There’s so much stigma around mental health, especially when it comes to parenting. If you’re having a crap day, let it out, it doesn’t mean you love your kids any less.

In my three years of parenting, when expressing parental difficulties for example being stalked by an angry 16 month old, 12 hours a day, who leaves a path of destruction wherever she goes, whilst clinging to my leg like a extremely needy koala bear, I’ve come across parents that always feel the need to put their ‘positive’ spin on things. This results in making me feel like a crappy parent. I may complain that my three year old tortures me with her non stop talking or strange & repetitive games that she demands me to play, but I don’t need to be told that “you would rather your child talks than not at all” or “you cherish the time you have with your little ones as they grow up so fast”.

The Worlds Best Parent Award goes to you: it’s ok you win. I’m not a robot and it doesn’t make me a bad mother to admit that being talked at all day or dealing with non stop tantrums wears me down. There are days when I literally can’t take anymore and I just want to stick my head in the oven. Who’s with me?!

Does that make me a bad mum? No I think it makes me a real mum. It’s so easy to doubt yourself through your journey of motherhood but let me assure you that you are doing an amazing job. There ain’t no hood tougher than motherhood. I realised that when Flo came along and she’s one bad ass mother f@*#er!

So if you need to vent, let it out! It doesn’t make you any less of a good parent. I do cherish every moment with my Daughters and I try and stimulate them and make their lives as fun and colourful as possible but seriously we can’t be Mary bloody Poppins all the time.
