Tonight we launched Operation Big Girl Bed. Within 5 minutes Flo managed to spread every single book she owns across her bedroom floor and she pulled out all the wipes from two packets of wet wipes! Seriously that girl works fast! When I said goodnight, she wore an expression that could only mean one thing…freedom!
Whilst we stayed at Nana & Grandads over the Easter weekend, my Hubby popped home, broke down the cotbed and built Bella’s new Midsleeper bed and he built Bella’s old bed in Flo’s room. Like true second child style, Flo was thrown into the situation. I was feeling a bit anxious at how she would react when coming home to discover that her cotbed had disappeared.
I held my breath as she waltzed into her room but she didn’t even bat an eyelid! She smiled at her new big girl bed, climbed on it, had a roll around and then got off and strutted into Bella’s room. She was far more interested in her big Sister’s bed, it has a ladder so the danger element is always more appealing to Danger Mouse Flo.
Of course she got out of bed straight away. I left her for 10 minutes as she read her books and trashed her room and I kept popping in to put her back to bed and remind her that it was bedtime. It was quite amusing to watch her on the monitor as she climbed and explored her new bed.
Around 7.45pm I could hear banging coming from her room, so I went in for the fifth time to find her casually sitting on the floor, repeatedly banging her drawer, stopping occasionally to pull out all of her clothes. Around 8pm it went deadly quiet. I glanced at her monitor and couldn’t see her in the bed, so I popped upstairs to find her asleep on the floor, a warm comfy bed is so overrated.
I can only imagine what kind of night I’m in for! Let’s pray that the Sleep Fairy is kind to me. I still need to add the finishing touches to Flo’s room to make it look less bare. Bella absolutely loves her new bed, she is far too excited tonight and “not ready to sleep yet”, so I’ve let her play quietly until she’s tired enough to sleep, sometimes you’ve just got to choose your battles.
