Meal times are becoming more messier than usual, which is hard to believe because Flo has a habit of lobbing food whenever she gets the chance (that girl can throw). Flo is beginning to refuse being spoon fed. She’ll take a few mouthfuls and then smacks the spoon away and makes a grab for it. If I let her spoon feed herself, she carries on eating-little madam.

I’m going to explore the finger food route more, so I thought I’d try this savoury muffin recipe from the Real Food Kids Will Love Cookbook by Annabel Karmel. I haven’t really got stuck into this cookbook yet, so I was excited to try a new recipe-I really need to get out more. The recipe is nice and simple so the muffins were quick and easy to make.

Once you’ve chopped and prepared the veggies, it’s literally a case of throwing them all into a mixing bowl and give it a quick mix, the recipe specifically states not to over mix the ingredients-bonus! So if the mixture looks a bit rough and ready you’ve done a perfect job! I felt a little sneaky beaky because I put the mixture into pretty floral cake cases to trick Bella into trying one (naughty Mummy). She fell for it hook, line and sinker, thought the muffin was a sweet treat and dived straight in, thankfully she liked it.

I served the muffins up with lunch today. I made the girls a bit of a pick n mix lunch and Flo was literally eating for 40 minutes. She loved having a selection and feeding herself, just look at that face! She even offered to share a few times, it’s her new thing.

Overall, Operation Carrot, Cheese & Tomato Muffin was a success! I’m going to try and make Frittata Muffins next. Watch this space for the recipe. If you’d like to try these recipe at home, here you go. I hope your little ones enjoy it!
