Last year, Bella went Trick-or-Treating for the first time and she’s been obsessed with Halloween ever since. I’ve already been instructed that I need to decorate the house with fake spiders and spooky things, from top to bottom and her friend is coming over for dinner, before we head out around our neighbourhood for a spot of trick-or-treating. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve and I’ll share those nearer the time, but for now I wanted to share some of these Halloween craft ideas with you.
Bella has two weeks off Pre School during the October half term, so I want to plan a couple of Halloween crafts in the lead up to the big day! As always I searched Pinterest, one of my favourite apps for inspiration and here are some of my favourite ideas:
Spider Handprints & Boo Cards
Bella has a thing about Spiders. It’s almost like she’s trying to convince herself that she isn’t scared of them, so this craft idea will be right up her street. It’s super easy to do, simply paint your child’s hands with black paint, make the hand prints and once it has dried, you could go to town and decorate it. I’ll probably get some green goggly eyes and maybe some stick on gems to create the mouth.
The Footprint Boo card is a sweet idea and would make a great keepsake card for grandparents. I might have to rope Flo into that one!
Paper Bats
This simple craft activity is great for toddlers. If you prepare the bat face, wings and ears, your toddler can take care of the rest. If you’re brave enough, you could let your little ones, decorate their bat with glitter and gems. If you’re throwing a children’s Halloween party these paper bats would make excellent decorations.
Paper Witch Houses
Encourage your little ones to let their imaginations run wild as they create these simple paper witch houses. Again you can be as creative as you like with the decorations. Once you’ve stuck the witches hat on the house, you can pretty much let your toddler take care of the rest.
Easy Finger-painted Monsters
Let your little monsters loose with paint and ask them to use their fingerprints to make a colourful monster. You can buy multi coloured googly eyes from HobbyCraft and you could even buy monster mouth stickers from Amazon to create the mouth. Or you could draw it on using Little Brian’s Paintsticks.
