We have had the best day out at Drusillas Park today. The girls were twinning in their matching cat dresses and they loved spotting the spooky Halloween touches throughout the park. Drusillas Park has always been one of our favourite family days out and it’s only a 45 minute drive from Tunbridge Wells, so it’s the perfect family destination for us.
As always Drusillas Park has pulled out all the stops and their Shriek Week is definitely an event you don’t want to miss! There is so much spooky fun to be had, that there is never a dull moment! We spent 6 hours at the park today and I still had to drag the girls out because they didn’t want to leave. I love how the Halloween fun is suitable for all ages but there are warnings in case you have sensitive little ones.
We started our day by visiting the farm animals. I just love that there are so many learning opportunities throughout the park and it’s all very hands on and interactive. Wherever you look, there’s always something interesting to explore. There are quite a lot of animal sound activities too, which are perfect for younger children.
The girls had me crawling and squeezing into tight spots and tunnels in Go Wild. It’s actually an Adventure Playground aimed at 7-12 year olds, but Bella has been really stepping out of her comfort zone lately and she climbed right up to the top and then she went down the tallest slide. I was amazed at how brave and daring she was. Naturally Flo followed suit but she wasn’t quite brave enough for the slides, so I had to squeeze myself down them with Flo on my lap, Nana even joined in with the fun.
We then had a ride on the Safari Express Train. Flo enjoyed waving at everyone and Bella loved the spooky surprise at the end. The tunnel was decorated with cobwebs and there was two giant spiders. Bella was desperate to meet a Tarantula (strange child) so we made our way to the Discovery Centre for the Creepy Crawly Encounters.
Bella was a tad disappointed that she couldn’t hold the Tarantula (Nana and I was very relieved) but she settled for stroking a Cockroach (blurgh). Flo also got in on the action and tried to steal the Cockroach several times. There was a great variety of creepy crawlies and experts from the Zoo team on hand to answer any questions.
We then explored Enkariak village in Maasailand and the rest of the amazing animals in the Zoo. From Penguins to Red Pandas to Flamingos and Giant Anteaters, there are so many animals to explore. Bella loved the Owls and Flo loved the Lemurs and Penguins. The path takes you back into the playground area, so we walked back through to have fun on the rides.
There are lots of super fun rides that are suitable for all ages. Flo now enjoys rides more, which is a massive relief, seeing as we are going to Disneyworld in January. Hello Kitty Secret Garden, is perfect for smaller children with rides including Hello Kitty Hopper Ride, Hello Kitty Car Ride and Hello Kitty Tea Cup Ride, there’s enough to keep them entertained.
Go Safari is great for thrill seekers, there are three, fab rides to choose from including; The Flying Cheetahs, The Hippopotabus and The Safari Express. Flo requested to ride on The Flying Cheetahs ride several times and she had the biggest smile on her face during the whole ride. Both girls loved riding on the beautiful Rainforest Carousel. We then checked out Mummy Mayhem.
An ancient Mummy had escaped from the Tomb of Mungo and it was having lots of fun scaring and chasing people. I was too busy papping away and I didn’t realise the Mummy was standing right behind me, I screamed like a big baby when I spun around and realised I was face to face with it. Once I got over the shock I asked for a selfie #instamum #sorrynotsorry. Once again Bella completely surprised me and she wasn’t phased one bit and she even gave the Mummy a high five, Flo on the other hand was terrified.
The girls burned off any last bit of energy at Amazon Adventure, whilst Nana & Mummy enjoyed a doughnut and hot chocolate. There were a couple more Halloween attractions that we didn’t get to see because the girls would of been too scared by them including; Haunted Heights and Spooky Happenings where two witchy sisters play hide & shriek and terrify unsuspecting guests. Thank You Drusillas Park for yet another brilliant day out. The girls were absolutely buzzing when we got back into the car because they had such a great day.
