Lately I’ve been feeling wiped out, well exhausted quite frankly. Flo has been a little bugger most nights for almost two months now, so I feel like a permanently, sleep-deprived Mummy on the edge. So today I decided to bin off Playgroup, stop, spend some quality time with the girls and stay at home for a change. As you can see, we’ve really had a great day together.

Five days out of the week, we are up and out by 9am. This normally involves a chaotic drill of getting the girl’s ready to go out, plus the changing bag (mine is so packed with stuff, it looks like I’m part of a Military training drill), Bella’s rucksack and the girls Snack Bag (never leave the house without it). Bella normally requests a cuddly toy and this can take a while because she’ll change her mind five times. Flo always does an epic poo as soon as I clip her into her car seat.

So that leads to Operation Nappy Change, which is normally frantic, as I’m running late anyway. Not to mention the changing over of the prams (I go from double to single when Bella is at Pre-School). It’s quite heavy, so I hobble with both prams in and out of house. The neighbours must have their popcorn ready each morning, as I bet it’s quite entertaining to watch. Especially when I have the odd, moment of weakness and lose my shit with the pram and throw it on the floor, in an act of rage.

So today we got ready at a leisurely pace. Bella baked cakes and tried to convince me that it would be a sensible idea for her to scoff the lot. The girls have had so much quality time together today and they both loved it. It’s so special to see them form a bond. They make each other laugh! We’ve played dress up (Flo was forced to participate-she wasn’t impressed), Bella buried Flo in her ball pit, they read together and Bella has shown Flo a few tricks to keep up her sleeve, like how to climb on the sofa and fall backwards.

Us Mums put too much pressure on ourselves to get out and about all the time. I definitely noticed a difference in Bella’s behaviour today. No paddy’s (well almost none) and she seemed much happier and refreshed. Flo has also started to form a nap routine (finally) and she naps for 1.5-2 hours in morning and an hour in afternoon (if I’m lucky) so I think she was happier today too.

I definitely feel refreshed and ready to hop back into the World again. Maybe not just yet. We’ve had so much fun today that I think we will have another home day tomorrow. It’s good to put the breaks on every now and again.
