Who else is secretly panicking about the thought of having to keep their little chicks entertained for two WHOLE weeks over the Easter Half Term? Anyone? Fear not, there is a light at the end of burrow (get it?!). I’m going to post regular blogs with Easter Themed ideas to help beat boredom and today’s blog is a tasty one.
Easy Carrot Rice Krispies Treat

If a recipe has the word easy in the title I’m sold! This simple and fun idea was taken from Kid Friendly Things To Do on Pinterest. These cute carrots would make the perfect sweet treat at an Easter party. It’s also super easy for your little ones to get involve to.
Recipe
- 3 TBSP of unsalted butter
- 4 cups of mini marshmallows
- 6 cups of Rice Krispies
- Orange food colouring
- Dark green chocolate melts
Method
- Melt the butter over medium heat
- Add marshmallows and stir until smooth
- Remove from heat and add orange food colouring
- Grab your big mixing bowl and add the Rice Krispies, pour in your orange, marshmallow mixture and stir until cereal is coated.
- Grab your pie plate and put a sheet of baking paper over it
- Divide the mixture into two pie plates evenly and press down
- Remove the moulded Rice Krispies from the pie plates
- Cut each Rice Krispies Treat into 16 triangles
- Grab your chocolate melts and pour a few into a bowl
- Microwave for a minute until smooth, this will be used as glue to stick your green leaves onto the carrot
- Cut 50 of them in half and use these as your leaves
Easter Biscuits

This recipe was taken from Tesco. Again another easy recipe. Your children will have a ball decorating these egg shaped biscuits. Make sure you have a stash of extra toppings because if your little one is anything like Bella, most of the toppings will end up in their tummy.
Ingredients
- 200g butter at room temperature
- 200g caster sugar
- 1 egg
- 400g plain flour
Icing
- 250g royal icing sugar
- Different coloured food colourings
Method
- Pop the butter into a large mixing bowl with the caster sugar. Using a wooden spoon beat until light and fluffy
- Gradually beat in the egg, then gradually add the flour mixture
- Use your hands to bring the mixture together until it makes a stiff dough
- Roll into a ball and chill for 30 minutes
- Heat the oven at 180 degrees and roll out the dough on a clean service lightly dusted with flour until its thickness is the same as a £1 coin
- Using an oval cutter cut out egg shaped biscuits
- Place on baking tray and bake for 6-10 minutes or until golden brown
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes before transferring them onto a cooling rack
Icing
- To make the icing divide to 3-4 bowls, follow instructions on packet
- Add a little food colouring to each bowl
- Place the mixture into piping bags and decorate the biscuits. You can decorate with sprinkles, smarties, chocolate buttons or whatever else takes your fancy
Your biscuits should keep for one to two weeks if sealed in an air tight in.
Easter Fruit Salad

Here’s a healthy option. Not everyone likes to see their children bouncing off the walls. You can buy all different Easter themed cutters. Hobby Craft sell different shapes or you would definitely find a selection on Amazon. A different idea would to be make Easter shaped, fruit kebabs.
Healthy Easter Breakfast Popsicles

These cute and healthy Easter Popsicles was taken from Eatsamazing on Pinterest. They would make a perfect Breakfast treat or dessert. They are really easy to make and you could even try using a different mould if you wanted to have s selection.
Recipe
- 500g natural or Greek yoghurt
- Handful blueberries
- Handful or strawberries
- Handful granola
Method
- Place a small dollop of yoghurt into each egg in your silicone mould, filling each egg to a third
- Push chunks of granola into the yoghurt
- Then add a few raspberries and strawberries too.
- Place a lolly stick into each compartment, laying it as flat as possible
- Fill each egg to the top with yoghurt, making sure it covers up all the fruit and lolly stick
- Place mould into the freezer and freeze for 2 hours or overnight
- Once frozen pop out the Popsicles and leave them on a plate for a couple of minutes at room temperature before serving
- You can store these Popsicles in an airtight bag in the freezer
