Did you know that there is a Gruffalo themed Cookbook?! Neither did I! I discovered this gem on Amazon last night and I just had to get it, good old Amazon Prime. The Gruffalo Cookbook: Gruffalo Crumble and other recipes, is based on the best selling picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Schleffer and it’s brilliant!

If your little one is a fan of The Gruffalo picture books, the recipes in this cookbook will be a big hit. If you’re planning a Gruffalo themed party, this cookbook is a must have. It’s full of quick and easy snack ideas and all the recipes are so creative and represent each character in the picture book.

The book is divided into four different chapters with a total of 24 recipes from the deep dark wood. From Scrambled Snake and Other Breakfasts, to Deep Dark Wood Dips and Other Snacks, to Turned-Out Toes and Other Meals and lastly Gruffalo Crumble and Other Sweet Treats. I’ve taken a screenshot of a recipe from each chapter to give you an idea of what to expect.
Breakfast

The Terrible Tusks is such a quick, fun and healthy Breakfast idea. I’ve never thought of serving the girls a fruity kebab for breakfast before. Instead of a Skewer, you use a drinking straw, which makes it a lot safer and less hazardous for those little hands.
Snacks

There is a great selection of snack recipes to choose from. From Fox’s Sandwiches, to Orange Eyes, to Woodland Salad and Frog Muffins, there’s a snack idea to suit even the fussiest of eaters. Most importantly each recipe idea is full of fun.
The Frog Muffins are such a fun idea. They would be perfect at any The Gruffalo themed party or they would make a perfect snack for a play date. These muffins are full of goodness and they are so easy to make.
Meals

I love how simple the meal recipes are and how easy they are to put together. You could easily serve a couple of these dishes at dinner time. Each meal is decorated to look like a character from the picture book, which will get your little ones imaginations running wild.

The Poisonous Warts are so quick and easy to make and you don’t need many ingredients. Once again this snack would be perfect at a children’s party or a play date. The great thing about the Poisonous Warts recipe is that you can add extra ingredients if you wish.
Sweet Treats

My favourite part of any cookbook is the dessert section #sorrynotsorry. The Gruffalo Cookbook doesn’t disappoint, there are lots of delicious treats to choose from. Once again each dessert recipe is simple and easy to follow.

I am very excited to try the Gruffalo Crumble recipe. Who doesn’t love a good Crumble?! I love how each page in the cookbook is designed and the extra Tips, Tricks and Twists section, is very handy. The final recipe in the Sweet Treats chapter is this amazing Gruffalo Cake!

I can’t wait to get stuck into this cookbook and inject some fun back into meal times. I really am struggling with ideas at the moment, so I can’t wait to try these fun recipes out. Watch this space to see how my attempts turn out.
