Ever since Flo has turned two, her sleeping pattern is all over the place! She sometimes refuses naps, she’s fighting bedtime and her new hobby is waking up at 5.30am EVERY morning. Alarm bells starting to ring and as I feared, she’s hit a sleep regression, every parents worst nightmare.

Thankfully there’s hope! According to the experts it’s the final one *doing a happy dance*. This sleep regression is slowly tipping me over the edge. For a while I was finally getting a full nights, uninterrupted sleep, Flo had made me wait until she was almost two before she slept through and now the sleep rug is being pulled from underneath my feet.

She used to go straight to sleep, bedroom door closed and she happily slept in the dark, but since she has turned two she’s starting to develop fear. If I try and shut her bedroom door now she says “no Mummy, I don’t like the dark”, so I’ve been leaving the door open and the bathroom light on. We were sent a beautiful Honey Bear from Aurora Baby Official (https://aurora-baby.co.uk) and it’s really helped Flo settle at night.

It’s tummy lights up which helps provide comfort when its dark, if you squeeze it’s right paw it plays a lullaby and if you squeeze it’s feet it will play white noise and a heartbeat, so it’s great for babies too. I am so grateful for this bear and the comfort it has provided. Flo is almost distracted when she goes to bed now because she’s happily playing with her Honey Bear until she eventually falls asleep cuddling it.

What’s killing me right now though is the super early mornings. She will either wake up at 5:30am, wide awake and ready to kick start the day or she will stagger into my room at 4.30am, lovingly poke me in the eye or sit on my head to wake me up. I firmly tell her that it’s still nighttime and I plonk her back into bed, but I can’t settle back into a deep sleep because I’m on edge, waiting for the next invasion.

I keep reminding myself that this is just a phase and she is in fact growing up really fast. In the meantime I’ll use matchsticks to keep my eyes open and carry on raiding their Halloween treat bags to give me a sugar rush when all hope is gone. If you’re little one is also going through a sleep regression, I’m sending you a large, virtual Gin & Tonic.
