We are into week four people! A big well done to all the Mum’s & Dad’s that are having to try their hand at homeschooling, whilst working and having to keep your little ones entertained! Here is your weekly round up of ten, new activities to try at home.
Number 1: Water & Sand Table
I brought the girls this brilliant Sand & Water Table for just £24.99 from Smyths Toys https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb It has two sections, one for sand and one for water and you also get 13 different toys and accessories. I haven’t been able to buy sand anywhere, so we filled both sections up with water. You could also use this table for sensory or messy play.
Number 2: Friendship Bracelets
I brought a Melissa & Doug Shimmering Hearts Wooden Bead jewellery set from Amazon for just £3.99 Https://www.amazon.co.uk/melissa&doug for the girls so that they could make bracelets for their Nanny, Nana and LiLi. They both really enjoyed it and Flo managed to make her bracelet all by herself. This activity is great for developing fine motoring skills, hand-eye coordination and it makes a nice quiet time activity.
Number 3: Water Sensory Play
This is such a simple activity to set up and it will keep your little ones entertained for ages! All you need is a plastic container, water, blue food colouring if you’ve got some, plastic sea creatures and a big spoon to scoop them up. The girls loved fishing for fish and Bella made “fish soup” for lunch. It’s not only a great activity for fine motoring skills it’s also good for imaginative play.
Number 4: Baking Kits
Cake Angels baking kits have been a real life saver during lockdown. They are so quick and easy to make and the girls love decorating the cupcakes. We were recently sent a Frozen 2 and Moana kit to try and the girls had so much fun. It’s such a lovely activity that you can enjoy together. Number 5: Busy Books
Both of the girls are obsessed with My Busy Books. They are absolutely brilliant for imaginative play. I’ve recently brought the girls the new Frozen 2 My Busy Book from Amazon and they haven’t stopped playing with it. It includes a play mat, 10 Frozen 2 figurines and the box doubles up as a storybook. You can get all sorts of themes including Trolls, Lion King and lots more.
Number 6: Melissa & Doug Prehistoric Playground Activity Mat
The girls have had this Dinosaur themed play mat for almost two years now and they still haven’t got bored of it. Number 7: Bug Hunt
The girls were sent a Primary Science Magnifier and Tweezer set from Learning Resources and they absolutely love it. Bella was completely fascinated by it and she thought it was brilliant that she could see the bugs up close. Flo also really enjoyed hunting for bugs with her big sister. Number 8: Unicorn Slime Play
The girls love messy play and nothing is more messier than slime! There are so many different colours to choose from. It’s 100% biodegradable, non toxic, non irritant and its stain free.
Number 9: Match & Spell Orchard Toys
If you haven’t heard of Orchard Toys before you seriously need to check them out! Their games and puzzles are both educational and fun. Orchard Toys embrace learning through play and their games are great for all ages. Number 10: Science Experiments
The girls were sent two brilliant Science Experiment kits from Learning Resources including; Mix & Measure Set and Primary Science Lab Kit. These Primary Science kits are aimed at children age 3+ and they are simply amazing! Bella loved the water measuring experiment.
